One of the blessings of the holiday season is the opportunity to reflect on the support of our family, friends and mentors. They inspire and encourage us, in good times and bad. They influence who we are, and who we become.
On November 12, 2015, we had the chance to celebrate DCC’s best friends through our annual Clients and Friends Appreciation Party.
As I mentioned in brief remarks to our guests, despite my name being stamped on the invitation, on our business cards, and even on our cupcakes, this party – and this business – isn’t about me. It’s about all of us, and the magic we make by coming together to build reputations and deliver effective communications in support of the causes we care about. Because no one cares about effective communications for their own sake; the point is usually to advance a higher purpose. For our clients, the higher purposes include promoting technology and trade to make the world a safer, more prosperous place for all; developing a stronger manufacturing industry and skilled workforce; ensuring reliable emergency communications; fostering better schools that lift up our youth; and inspiring bipartisanship and common sense in public policy-making.
That’s why I started this company six years ago – to help companies and causes advance their agendas through smart, strategic, integrated communications in Washington, DC and beyond – and it is a privilege to serve each and every one of our clients.
Our thanks go out to AdvantEdge Business Centers for their assistance in hosting this special event; to La Prima and Hello Cupcake for providing delicious hors d’oeuvres and treats; and to Desmond Chisholm for his photography.
I also want to thank all the members of our extended DCC team – especially Marsha Smith and Lamar Braithwaite but also Peter Morscheck, Judith Rontal, Ram Uppuluri, Andrew Gagliano, and AJ Jacobs – for your efforts in making this event a success.
Like most holidays, Thanksgiving should actually be practiced every day.
So on this Thursday and every day, thank you again to all of our clients, colleagues, friends, and family for everything you contribute to our collective endeavors.
